Gross Apathy

When people who care go out of their way to help someone in dire need, and that someone recognizes that the help is going to be life-changing--that it can actually give him a brighter future, I just can't imagine why that person will choose to not take the help just because it will be inconvenient to get there.

If I were a parent who had a son born with deformities, and I don't have the means to get what he needs to lead a normal life, AND someone offered to help saying, "We'll take care of it for you," I WILL do the needful just because I love my son--just because he deserves this chance.

I feel strongly about it because it seems that people who need the most help will sometimes reject the help that'll change the course of their lives--they would rather stay poor or, worse, helpless!  It bothers me because that's one of the reasons why this country is still so poor.  It bothers me because people are so entitled and ungrateful.

What would the world be like if we had thankful, humble people all around?
